Sir,
Your detailed report on the road accidents dated 12th of this month has shocked me. The report quotes that 70 per cent of these accidents are due to reckless driving of the bus and truck drivers. I wondered how they got licences. Do the drivers really ever think what havoc they are doing to the people. These drivers run their vehicles at breakneck speed and don't care who is on the road. Sometimes they are drunk too. They don't care about traffic rules. Overtaking other vehicles seems like a sport to them. I don't know what joy they get from this sport. Road accidents are on the rise. Innocent people are losing lives. Reckless driving has now become a threat to the society.
The govt should take stern action against these drivers. These are not simply accidents, these are murders. The drivers who are committing such heinous crimes, should be treated as murderers. They deserve punishment.
Yours faithfully

Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the competent authority to the problem of reckless driving in our locality. For sometimes after the construction of the Burdwan-Murshidabad State Highway, the speed of the vehicles is increased. In most cases, the vehicles are exceeding the speed limits. Dozens of accidents have taken place since last month. The drivers are ignoring the traffic rules. Sometimes they are racing and trying to overtake each other.
Bikers, mainly teenagers assuming the road to be a racing track are competing with each other without a helmet. In October, a total death of 30 innocent lives was reported. Moreover, the totos and autos have no sense of traffic rules. They are overloading the vehicles and are not maintaining the rules of the road.
So I earnestly request you to pick up your pen and give a column in your editorial daily so that the authorities become aware of the fact and the lives of the innocents can be saved.
Thanking you
Yours faithfully
